WEEK 14 MASTER PLAN
The
latest master plan, it consists of the addition of a dedicated access road to
the residential area. This route will become highly used in the future and need
to be able to cope with higher traffic loads and for this reason it will be a sealed road with a flood amunity of Q100. The proposed residential areas
are down to the south western side of the property, this area was chosen as the development will not have a significant impact on the current day too day life on the site.

WEEK 14 - SLEEPING POD DEVELOPMENT
Section through Sleeping Pod
Plan of Sleeping Pod
The idea for this Pod cam from a popular camper trailer the TVAN, These camper trailers are a great example of fitting all of the conforts into a very compact mobile unit. The design is for a split level design with the bed and robe 600mm above the couch and lounge area, which looks out across the Landscape. Minimal Glass to the West and opening windows/louvers to the East.
The last picture in particular gave me the idea of the bed higher with a lounge at the lower level.

For the sleeping Pods I wanted them to feel modern but have characteristics that you would expect from a hut, the following images where a guide for the front and rear overhanging decks.

WEEK 14 - NEW LAYOUT IDEAS
Finally beginning to get some resolve in my mind
how the separate spaces of sleeping aand living are going to compliment each
other in the proposed development. The linear layout is beginning to look like
a community. Reviewing the possibility of the sleeping pods having large
opening doors at each end.

WEEK 13 - VILLAGE LAYOUTS
During my research to provide a more cohesive user experience with regards to the connectivity of the Sleeping Pods to the Main Building I observed a fundamental difference in the structure of a village that directly responded to the underlying terrain. I noticed that villages constructed on steep slopes were more likely to be constructed in a linear fashion, or along a contour. One would also assume this is to take full advantage of natural ventilation, access natural light and to take full advantage of the view. In comparison villages constructed on flat terrain are likely to be circular in shape, this could be attributed to the exposed nature of these sites and the inhabitants attempts to create some protection form the elements and attack from other tribes or even the wildlife.
As a result of these findings and due to the fact that the Woodford site is steep the design of my layout will be linear in fashion.
